What is the difference between the Polycarbonate and Aluminum Crystal Cards for snow study?
Heat can quickly affect snow crystals when placed on the card. The Polycarbonate Crystal Card is more suitable for sunnier climates as it retains less heat than the Aluminum Crystal Card. The Polycarbonate and Aluminum Crystal Cards have the same snow study features.
What features does the snow study Crystal Card have?
- 1mm and 3mm grid for identifying snow grain size
- Snow grain classification symbols
- 10-centimeter ruler
- Slope indexes to determine slope angles on a topographical map
Does the Crystal Card fit inside the BCA Snow Study kit?
Yes, the Polycarbonate and Aluminum Crystal Cards fit inside of the BCA snow study kits.
What is the Magnifying Loupe used for?
The Magnifying Loupe is used to identify and analyze snow crystals.
Does the AIARE field book fit inside the BCA Snow Study kit?
The AIARE field book is designed to fit under the elastic strap on the backside of the BCA snow study kit. It does not fit inside of the snow study kit.
Does the 2M ruler fit inside the BCA Snow Study kit?
No it does not, but it can be carried in your pack.
