#Sendandreturn: Watch our Safe Shredding (and Sledding) Videos

November 29, 2019

Unlike other freeride films, BCAs new series shows the necessaryavalanche safety and decision-making processes behind the making of big mountain movies.

Are you a fan of watching big mountain skiers, snowboarders, and snowmobilers shred aggressive lines, send big airs, and sometimes trigger avalanches? There's a lot more to it than meets the eye, especially when it comes to avoiding avalanches. That's why BCA has created #SendandReturn: The BCA Safe Shredding (and Sledding) Series to show the other side of freeride films, including the necessary decision-making and avalanche safety processes behind those big days you see in the movies.

#Sendandreturn: The BCA Safe Shredding Series shows BCA sled, ski, and snowboard athletes paying close attention to the avalanche forecast and executing safe travel protocols including trailhead tests, traveling one at a time, performing snow stability tests, and communicating clearly about the trip plan. And after they're shown sending radical lines in big mountain terrain, they're always shown safely returning at the end of the day.

Watch BCAs #SendandReturn video series to learn all about riding hard in the backcountry but only according to the avalanche conditions. Guaranteed you'll be inspired!

EPISODE 1 SEND AND RETURN: THE BCA SAFE SHREDDING SERIES
In episode one, Wrangling Montana Cold Smoke with the Bozeman Crew, BCA athletes Ben Goertzen, Stu Edgerly, and Dylan Zellers tweak their plans after reading the avalanche forecast. They head to southwest Montanas Gallatin Range to go backcountry skiing and splitboarding in superb powder conditions, verifying the forecast along the way.

EPISODE 2 SEND AND RETURN: THE BCA SAFE SHREDDING SERIES
In episode two, Chasing BC Pillows with the Canadian Hosers, canucks Riley Leboe, Mike Henitiuk, and Matt Margetts of Seeking Nirvana fame use their snowmobiles to access some stellar backcountry skiing outside Stewart, BC, including some big pillow lines. They keep their eye on the recent storm snow and a buried surface hoar layer.

EPISODE 3 SEND AND RETURN: THE BCA SAFE SLEDDING SERIES
In episode three, Riding Revy with Team Thunderstruck, BCA joins Jim Phelan, Randy Swenson, Linden Ladouceur, Julio Eiguren, and BCA ambassador Dwayne Paynton on a rowdy day of mountain snowmobiling outside Revelstoke, BC. They hit steep lines and get some big air, but only after verifying the conditions are safe on those aspects.
