2 reviews for BCA Tracker S™ Avalanche Transceiver

  1. Yamnuska Mountain Adventures

Our guide team did some testing and practicing with the new Tracker S on our Winter staff training. We introduced 10 new Tracker S beacons for our AST 2 courses in anticipation of replacing our fleet of of over 100 Tracker 2 beacons.
Guides were impressed with the processor and speed.
Overall ease ease of use was on par with Tracker 2.
The Signal Suppression and Big Picture features are useful but we needed a lot of practice to feel comfortable with these functions. We felt that beginner users would be comfortable without using the SS and BP functions and advanced users, with practice, would be good to go.
Read the manual, practice lots in different and more complex scenarios and the Tracker S is a good no -nonsense transceiver for beginners and advanced users.

  2. Gear Junkie

Backcountry Access’ newest avalanche receiver is now available for backcountry users. The BCA Tracker S ($300) offers a real-time direction and distance digital display as well as a signal suppression feature when multiple transceivers are in the area to locate the strongest signal. The new model doesn’t have higher-tech features like motion-sensing, making it easy and accessible for the average backcountry consumer.
