The BCA Float 42™ Avalanche Airbag 2.0 is our burliest pack, specifically designed for pros, ski patroller, guides, and those heading out for long tours and overnights. The BCA Float 42  Avalanche Airbag features our 2.0 air cylinder and engine, which is nearly 30% smaller and 15% lighter than our Float 1.0 engine.  All the Float 2.0 system elements sit entirely separate behind a zippered covering, freeing up valuable space in the main compartment for gear, first-aid kit, and supplies.  The Float 42™ 150-liter airbag not only creates buoyancy and decreases your burial depth but also protects your head and neck from trauma in an avalanche. All BCA Float packs include integration for BC Link™ Radios, hydration sleeve, dual-zippered shoulder straps, and molded back panel.

BCA’s 200 authorized refill locations around the world make it the easiest refillable airbag system on the market. The Float 2.0 avalanche airbag system does not guarantee survival in an avalanche incident. Educate yourself, make good decisions, and know before you go. Float 2.0 air cylinder must be purchased separately.

The Float Airbag system does not guarantee survival in an avalanche incident.  Educate yourself, make good decisions, and know before you go!

  1. Landon M.

I use this pack exclusively for long day tours in the mountains. I don’t pack light and can fit all my extras in. It is even big enough to shove my helmet inside to keep it dry on rainy days. Comfortable to wear. I avoided air bag packs for a decade but realized the time has come to wear the insurance. Read The NY Times article on Tunnel Creek avalanche and you will know what you need to do.

  2. Weston Deutschlander

I love this pack and think they knocked it out of the park with this one. Adjustable waist belt, huge interior space, goggle compartment (that can actually fit goggles when the pack is fully loaded), plenty of pockets, and a great price. I won’t use a pack without a helmet carry, helmet in the carrier when I am skinning and on my head on the way down. I can carry ice tools if I need, have easy access to explosives via the lower lumbar zip and can store a radio in the shoulder straps. Used it nearly every day for work and it has held up great.

  3. Weston Deutschlander

Superb pack. Carries a heavy load great, easy access if you need to access explosives via the lower zip. If I am not carrying a large load the compression straps shrink it down nicely. Goggle compartment is spacious for large goggles. Helmet carry is such a game changer and I cant go back to a pack with out a helmet carry. This has more useable carry space than any other pack on the market and it really shows when you use it day in and day out. Mine has been extremely durable, 125 days on it last year and looks pretty mint.

  4. Jason Condon

I’ve worn this pack for over 20 days and can say that this is a well-designed pack. There is ample space for a multi-day trip or additional climbing gear. I’ve practiced deploying the airbag and it was simple and easy to use. The straps are comfortable and the pack carries weight well while still being streamline for the ride down.
