The Float 22 emphasizes affordability among other airbag packs. It’s also jam-packed with features. In the event of an avalanche, the pull of a trigger engages a refillable, compressed air cylinder (sold separately) to deploy a 150-liter airbag. The pack’s 22-liter capacity is ideal for full-day backcountry missions, thanks to both shovel and probe sleeves, a separate dry compartment meant for wet items, and a diagonal carry for easy boot packing.

Great pack! Durable, compact and SAFE.

This is a great pack! Not only does it offer great storage capabilities while maintaining a sturdy and compact shape, but this pack is also one of the most durable I have ever seen; The fabric, zippers and straps are virtually bomb-proof! All together, the storage, durability and “Float Airbag” system make this pack my go to for any day on the slopes.

    A must for the backcountry!

I love my BCA Float 22. Of course having an airbag backpack in the backcountry is a great added to tool. The Float 22 is the perfect size for day tours, cat skiing and heli skiing. The pack is comfortable with good organization for you shovel and probe, with plenty of room for your skins, a layer, some water and lunch. The canister system with BCA is easy to refill with locations all over the world, making these packs easy to travel with. BCA’s website is full of information and instructional videos to help you set up and manage you pack, which is great!

Purchased for snowmobiling. Nice size for backcountry riding. I like the updates for 2015; ability to choose which side to install the trigger on and route my BCA link radio.

This is my go to airbag for sidecountry, resort and tours where crampons, ropes and ice axes are not essential (I use the Float 42 for those types of missions). The weight, fit and storage capacity is perfect. You can store all your safety gear and still have room for food, skins, camera, etc. I highly recommend this pack to anyone who participates in snow activities.

I used the 22 during a backcountry shoot in Utah’s Little Cottonwood Canyon – it was a borrowed pack, and the first time I had used an airbag (my current back is a BD Agent Avalung). First let me say that this pack is the perfect size for a longer day – in this instance, we were in the mountains from sun up to sun down, so managing layers was something on my mind when I packed up, but still had plenty of room for my backcountry gear. One thing that really struck me is it wasn’t bulky, and as an athlete moving around the mountains, hiking, touring having a product that can be nimble and not feel like it is restrictive is super important to me, and that is the 22.

    Solid Pack
I’ve been using the float 22 a lot this season. For an airbag pack it feels light and unobtrusive, you won’t notice the weight. The 22 size gives you enough room for skins, some food/water and a few other essentials. Great for shorter missions. If you want to fit crampons and other gear for longer missions, look to one of the larger float bags.
