Learn Avalanche Safety

Backcountry Access (BCA) is North America’s leading manufacturer of snow safety equipment, including Tracker transceivers, Float airbags, shovels, probes, and BC Link radios. BCA’s mission is to save lives, not just sell products. BCA has always considered education to be just as important as the gear it makes. That’s why BCA supports avalanche education programs and forecast centers--and why the company backs up all its products with consumer education and knowledgeable customer service.

  • Tracker2 Special (SP) Mode (Video)

In this video, we review how and when to use special (SP) mode on a BCA Tracker2 avalanche transceivers. Special (SP) mode enables the Tracker2 to display the distance and direction of signals other than those of the closest beacon. It also reduces the Tracker’s search ‘”window” to the center three directional lights, enabling the searcher to mask out beacon one (1) to differentiate it from beacon two (2) in multiple avalanche burial scenarios.
