Learn Avalanche Safety

Backcountry Access (BCA) is North America’s leading manufacturer of snow safety equipment, including Tracker transceivers, Float airbags, shovels, probes, and BC Link radios. BCA’s mission is to save lives, not just sell products. BCA has always considered education to be just as important as the gear it makes. That’s why BCA supports avalanche education programs and forecast centers--and why the company backs up all its products with consumer education and knowledgeable customer service.

  • Hunter Schleper – BC Link Helps Prevent Avalanche Burial (Video)

    Colorado, 2014

Hunter Schleper was geared up and prepared – and amazingly able to dodge this avalanche while riding and filming in the Colorado backcountry.  Watch and listen as Schleper’s friends use their BC Link radios to tell him to “go right” as he unknowingly triggers an avalanche and it comes down from above.

NOTE: the title of the YouTube video you are about to see is deceiving – you will NEVER outrun an avalanche if you are caught in one – not on skis or snowboards – which is why it is wise for your group to be prepared and always ride in the backcountry with your BCA avy gear.
