Learn Avalanche Safety

Backcountry Access (BCA) is North America’s leading manufacturer of snow safety equipment, including Tracker transceivers, Float airbags, shovels, probes, and BC Link radios. BCA’s mission is to save lives, not just sell products. BCA has always considered education to be just as important as the gear it makes. That’s why BCA supports avalanche education programs and forecast centers--and why the company backs up all its products with consumer education and knowledgeable customer service.

  • Tracker3 Big Picture (BP) Mode (Video)

In this video, we review how and when to use the Big Picture (BP) mode on a Tracker3 avalanche transceiver. Big Picture (BP) mode is used to help solve complex multiple avalanche burials. With BP mode, you can estimate how many avalanche beacons are in the search area along with their approximate direction. To learn more about how to operate an avalanche transceiver, see our Tracker Resources page.  Check out our complete lineup of BCA Tracker avalanche transceivers here.
