New Colorado weather site provides pow forecast and chuckles.

Colorado local Joel Gratz wants to help you find the best weather for your outdoor fun.  As a meteorologist and powder hound (and former Penn State ski teamer), Joel has started up www.ColoradoPowderForecast.com to provide more weather and snow insight than the typical weatherman babble.

Weather Predictions

Here’s Joel’s website from Thanksgiving Day, when he talked about about the big Pacific NW system “splitting” before reaching Colorado, leaving all but the San Juans dry. He nailed that one. OK, Joel, give us some sugar!

Joel now produces weekly forecasts that are specific and fun to read. You don’t need to know weatherman jargon to figure out what he’s saying. He even has an educational area where you can learn about meteorology. It’s no substitute for the CAIC and Avalanche.org websites because he doesn’t provide avalanche hazard forecasts. However, he does provide longer term forecasts than most avi centers and forecasted storm totals.

And, in a truly opposite style to most other weather forecasters, he even grades his forecasts and admits when he’s wrong. An honest weatherman? No way…

With a little luck and Joel on our site, this could be you. Photo courtesy Joel Gratz :)
